ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Challenges and opportunities in policies and governance.

The wide-spread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic mainly arises from the virus’ characteristics to be transmitted and spread at extremely high speed, which requires physical human restrictions to stop the spread. Thus, the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (LSRR) was issued by the Indonesian Government. Although LSRR had helped restrict the spread of the virus, it caused strenuous impact on economic activities, causing business closures or suspensions, especially in sectors that rely highly on human interactions, such as tourism. Government regulations for these two sectors, health and economy, seem to contradict each other. Concerns on health sector created devastating impact on economic sector, while economic activities that continued normally raised concerns on further spread of the virus. To help find answers to these concerns, Padjadjaran University Alumni Association (IKA UNPAD) came up with the initiative to facilitate a sharing among experts to articulate how quick vaccines can be distributed, its issues, challenges, and effectiveness, existing or potential international collaborations. In collaboration with Padjadjaran University, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KADIN), the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), the conference presents itself through a high-level panel of global experts.
The following key questions help direct the course of discussions throughout the 3-day conference:
  1. Regulation on vaccine safety and effectiveness
  2. Indonesian diplomacy in the provision of vaccines
  3. Regulation and resources in handling the COVID-19 pandemic
  4. Post-pandemic economic recovery
  5. Community and the practice of new habit adaptation.
Objectives:
The objective of this International Conference is to find the right formula in constructing health and economic policies, so that they are intertwined in overcoming the pandemic situation and restoring the people’s economy.
